The TLC family mourns the loss of Joseph Herwig Jr., Professional Engineer Administrator / Mechanical and Orlando Office Supervisor for the State of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Mr. Herwig was well known and well regarded in his role at AHCA, having dedicated many years to the company. Numerous TLC Healthcare Engineering team members from across the state interacted with Mr. Herwig countless times.
Whether to resolve review comments, especially dreaded “asterisk” comments, or to work at the behest of owners and contractors as projects invariably tried to align with AHCA’s three-week inspection cycle, Mr. Herwig was a patient, consistent, and empathetic regulator. He was a tireless engineer, and foremost sought to uphold the safety and quality of Florida’s healthcare facilities through his diligence and collaborative actions.
In his more than 40 years in the engineering industry, Mr. Herwig had worked at a number of firms, including TLC (then Tilden, Lobnitz, Copper, Inc.) from 1983 to 1989 and remained friends with TLC Principals Bob Danner and Mark Costello. TLC is grateful to Jacob Nagib at Halifax Health, another close friend of Joe and of TLC, for sharing frequent updates about Joe.
The TLC family will always remember Joe for his love of engineering and his generous spirit with all. Our love and prayers are with the Herwig family.
The memorial service is scheduled for Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11am followed by a fellowship lunch and gathering at the church community center:
