The new nine-story, 240-bed All Children’s Replacement Hospital is the most ambitious expansion project in the hospital’s history. To ensure that the new hospital address a variety of needs, the design team included young patients and their parents who contributed design concepts in the form of colorful drawings of what a children’s hospital should be. All of the patient suites will be private rooms averaging 80% larger than the current private/semi-private rooms. Two floors of the hospital are devoted to coordinated care for mothers and newborns. One floor will be leased by Bayfront Medical Center to house its Women & Children’s Center and a nursery. The other will be home to All Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. On the first floor will be an enlarged Pediatric Emergency Room Trauma Center with a separate landing area for helicopter transport and a pedestrian walkway bridge to the Emergency/Trauma Unit at Bayfront Medical Center. The integrated Outpatient Care Center adjacent to the hospital will house outpatient diagnostics (MRI, open MRI, CT and PET/CT), rehabilitative and therapy services. Adjoining both the hospital and outpatient center is a 1,000-space covered parking garage.
