Central Avenue
Elementary was the first application of the Florida Dept. of
Education-developed Primary Learning Center prototype. This
modified reuse of the Phase D prototype accommodates 500 student
stations with future expansion capabilities to 740 student stations.
Two classroom and music/art buildings were modified to provide
an additional 250 student stations. Structural and MEP systems
design allows easy future expansion. Designated as a community
hurricane shelter, the school is hardened to protect against
high winds and has a backup generator to provide emergency power. |
