As
the corporate home for a major insurance underwriting
firm, the new U.S. Epperson Headquarters budiling requires
a high level of security for the storage and maintenance
of sensitive data as well as a comfortable office environment.
TLC engineering design includes an 80-kVA uninterruptible
power supply unit to protect the sophisticated computer
system. All of the workstations and the general building
security are protected with a 130kVA uninterruptible power
supply.Carefully designed indirect lighting reduces glare
on the computer monitors, which is an important consideration
in office buildings. Backup power for the entire facility
is provided by a 1.5MW emergency generator with 5,000-gallon
fuel storage. The water-cooled, self-contained air conditioning
units with variable air volume air distribution systems
provide comfort cooling for the building and energy savings
compare to the air cooled equipment. In the data center,
air-cooled DX computer room AC units provide equipment
cooling with 100% redundancy. The auditorium has demand
ventilation system with CO2 sensors to maintain the indoor
air quality and provide energy savings. |
