Florida Hospital’s new 15-story Ginsburg Tower contains the Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute, 200 beds with room for 240 future beds, and an Emergency Department the size of a football field. The Cardiovascular Institute features the most advanced cardiovascular technology and diagnostics available. The ED is intended to accommodate an estimated 90,000 annual visits. It is the first ED in Central Florida to offer shoreline outlets so ambulances can turn off their engines and plug into the building. It also features a unique “LEAN track process” to help streamline patient flow, make triage more efficient and decrease wait times. The tower is named for Alan H. Ginsburg and the Ginsburg Family Foundation. Lots of natural light and soothing colors help create a healing environment. Phase 1 was design and construction of the new energy/office building (EOB). Phase 2 included the addition of a 500-space parking area to the Alden Street parking garage. Phase 3 was the design and construction of a temporary main entry. Phase 4 included moving Rollins Street farther south and construction of the patient tower. Phase 5 was construction of a new parking garage on McRae Street that provides 1,158 spaces for hospital staff. Phase 6 included renovation of the lobby in the existing hospital, construction of a new canopy and completion of the Main Street corridor from the new construction to the existing hospital. Phase 7 included the final site work required to connect the new construction with the existing hospital.
