Engineering a Healthier Tomorrow
TLC specializes in engineering systems for hospitals, ambulatory care centers, medical office buildings, senior living facilities and central plants; in fact, more than one-third of our design portfolio is healthcare-related. By combining innovation with flexibility, we provide award-winning engineering solutions that enhance the architectural design while addressing our clients’ needs.
Sustainability is a priority in our design, and reflects our key goal of creating healthy built environments. Whether you seek our LEED expertise or are focused on involving a design partner that will offer practical guidance on smart capital cost investments toward improved long term operating efficiency, TLC is THE healthcare engineering sustainability resource available to advise you in achieving your sustainability goals. Furthermore, we will encourage and provide the insight that you need to recognize the benefits of applying sustainable principles to any project – small or large – to yield a healthier environment for patients and staff, and develop systems that are more efficient and better responsive to your long term needs.
TLC is committed to the industry that we share and has been active in the development of ground-breaking and important standards and guidelines that affect the work we do. TLC’s senior staff have been and continue to be involved in the LEED® Application Guide for Healthcare and LEED Application Guide for Labs core committees; ASHRAE Standard 170 Ventilation for Heath Care Facilities; ASHREA Standard 189.3 Design, Construction and Operation of Sustainable High-Performance Health Care Facilities; the LEED Energy and Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group subcommittee for combined heat and power applications; the Green Guide for Health Care Steering Committee; and the GGHC Water and Energy groups subcommittee. TLC has been represented on the NFPA Health Care Section Advisory Committee for more than 20 years.
