TLC Services
SMEP/Energy Audit
TLC
has provided engineering services for numerous projects
for the Jacksonville Housing Authority including the Twin
Towers and South Winds Village properties. Our services
also included performing energy audits of 18 separate
Jacksonville Housing Authority properties to identify
conservation measures. Upon completion of the audits,
TLC engineers recommended changes and renovations to improve
energy performance and reduce consumption for the Housing
Authority properties. Typical measures included solar
water heating, photovoltaic, improved building envelope,
Energy Star appliances and HVAC efficiency improvements.
Among the renovations at the Twin Towers were new balcony
railings designed to hold a future photovoltaic solar
panel system for 240 housing units. New curtain wall systems
for each unit were also designed. For the interior of
each unit, TLC designed a wall-packaged heat pump system
and an engineered condensate drainage system for the wall-mounted
HVAC equipment. We also provided electrical engineering
services for the new heat pump system and a switched circuit
for each unit porch. At South Winds Village, our design
included removing mansard trusses from each residential
unit and replacing them with new exterior walls, as well
as the relocation and replacement of the roof-mounted
HVAC system. TLC also provided redesign services for the
roof to accommodate the future photovoltaic solar collector
array that will provide power to the units hot water
heaters.
