Classical
design meets high technology in the new Jacksonville Main
Library. State-of-the-art technology in the library and
adjacent conference center includes personal computers
with Internet access, a wireless zone, satellite and video
teleconferencing capabilities, and infrastructure to support
future technologies. High-tech audio and video presentation
equipment serve the classrooms, conference rooms, training
centers, and other areas. Digital video recorders using
advanced motion detectors record activity 24 hours a day.
In the adjacent four-story garage, emergency intercom
call stations are integrated with closed circuit television
cameras to provide security officers with instant voice
and visual contact upon activation. Prior to design development,
TLC provided the city with a CPTED (Crime Prevention through
Environmental Design) assessment report, threat and vulnerability
analysis, and security master plan. |
