Expansion
of the Lake City Correctional Facility Youthful Offender
Housing has resulted in across-the-board growth including
a near tripling of population; the hiring of 80 new employees;
upgraded kitchen equipment; expansion of the medical department;
and an increase in new educational, vocational and treatment
programs. Two two-level housing pods were added, each
approximately 38,000 sf and accommodating 288 beds. The
project also included the addition of 6,800 sf of administrative
and classroom space and 6,000 sf of single bed cells in
a remote location to the pods. Separate utilities serve
each housing pod, including separate electrical service,
boiler, and emergency power generator. Mechanical systems
design uses rooftop self-contained DX (direct expansion)
units. |
