The
seven-story, 330-bed North Patient Tower will have all
private rooms, an expanded burn care center, a new intensive
care unit, new open heart units, and new medical/surgical
units. In addition to increasing the size of the Emergency
Department by 40 percent, the project will enlarge the
X-ray and CT scan testing areas, add classroom space and
expand the cafeteria. Four operating rooms are being added
with two additional operating rooms shelled-in for future
needs. Customized state-of-the-art technology will enable
specially trained critical care doctors to monitor ICU
patients around the clock via high-resolution video, 2-way
audio, and an electronic bedside charting system. TLC
also provided LEED consulting services for this project,
which has been accepted in the prestigious pilot phase
of the USGBC’s new LEED for Core and Shell program.
