The
new LEED-certified seven-story tower has 182 private patient
rooms; two intensive care units with a total of 44 beds;
a 30-bed transitional open heart unit, an 18-bed regional
burn center and three medical-surgical units. Classrooms
and an education center are located on the first floor.
Customized technology enables specially trained critical
care doctors to monitor ICU patients around the clock
via high-resolution video, 2-way audio, and an electronic
bedside charting system. Construction of the new pavilion
required vertical expansion of the central utility building
to accommodate three new 800-bhp steam boilers, a new
400-ton sub-chiller and a new 2.5-MW generator system
with scalable paralleling switch gear. The pavilion was
also a pilot project in the Green Guide for Health Care
Construction program, which TLC was instrumental in developing.
