The
new Long Center for the Performing Arts will provide a
state-of-the-art performance hall for Central Texans.
Although some elements of the former Palmer Hall building
are being retained, the dome will be removed, leaving
a spacious outdoor terrace with a stunning view of downtown
Austin. The center is designed to accommodate phased expansion,
eventually including a 2,300-seat Dell Hall, 240-seat
Rollins Studio Theater, and a future intermediate theater
with more than 700 seats. TLC designed an under-floor
air delivery system that uses the existing basement area
to form the supply air plenum for the air to be delivered
up through the floor and into the auditorium. We also
provided design services for the cabling infrastructure
and wireless data communications infrastructure and consulting
services for telephone and regulated telecommunications
services consulting.
