The
new Miami-Dade Childrens Courthouse will reflect
the unified family court concept, combining under one
roof traditional and family courts plus social service
agencies and other resources. The 11-story building will
be constructed on what is now a parking lot at NW 2nd
Avenue and NW 3rd Street, immediately north of the Stephen
P. Clark Center and close to the County Courthouse. Plans
call for six or seven floors with four courtrooms each,
for a total of 24 or 28 courtrooms, each with its own
secure holding area. Secure holding cells for adults and
juveniles will be located on the main floor near the sally
port. Located on the top two floors will be the judges
chambers, the Clerk of Courts of the 11th Judicial Circuit
Juvenile Division, and administrative offices. The project
is expected to be LEED certified. TLC provided electrical,
audio-visual presentation, voice-data distribution, and
security system design services. |
