Suncoast
FCU IT Building Wins AIA Tampa Merit Award
07-08-08
|
|
Congratulations
to Kevin Keiter and the Tampa design team of the
Suncoast Federal Credit Union Information Technology
Building, which garnered the 2008 Award of Merit
from the American Architects Tampa Bay Chapter.
The building features a 7,000-sf state-of-the-art
data center designed to withstand winds up to
a Category 5 hurricane and incorporates a curtain-wall
system with reflective laminated glass for low
solar heat gain. In addition to the award
winning design, this challenging project gave
us a chance to apply the latest data center design
concepts for our systems and for hurricane preparedness,
said Kevin. TLCs Tampa office teamed with
Holmes Hepner & Associates Architects on the
design. Construction is expected to start in late
2009.

UNF
Parking Services Building Earns LEED Silver
06-23-08
|
|
The
University of North Florida's Parking Services
Building has achieved U.S. Green Building Council
LEED Silver Certification. This is a remarkable
accomplishment given that the project is only
3,000 sf, that UNF didnt decided to seek
LEED certification until about half-way through
the design, and that the University had no budget
increase for certification. TLC provided mechanical,
electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and LEED
consulting services for the building, which was
constructed at a cost of $1.2 million. The building
is the Jacksonville Offices 3rd LEED certified
building and TLCs 15th.

River Elementary Is TLC's "Lucky 13"
LEED Building
06-19-08
|
|
Peace
River Elementary School in Charlotte Harbor has
achieved U.S. Green Building Council LEED®
Silver Certification. TLC teamed with Reynolds,
Smith and Hills of Ft. Myers for the project.
Some of the sustainable features are high-performance
chillers and air handlers, low-flow faucets and
toilets, motion-activated lights and indirect
lighting. In addition, the ceiling and floor tiles,
the carpeting, the filters on the air conditioning,
ventilation and heating equipment, and the building's
structural steel framing are all recycled or renewable
materials. The building is TLC's 13th LEED certified
building and the third TLC-engineered Charlotte
County school to be LEED certified since March.
Hats off to the Ft. Myers office, which

A Look at our New Shareholders
04-18-08
|
|
Healthcare's Senior Mechanical Engineer Don Bailey,
PE, is closely attuned to his clients' needs and works
hard to ensure that TLC's engineered systems complement
the clients' vision. He mentors the younger staffers
and helps them work through thorny HVAC and plumbing
design issues. A member of TLC's mechanical committee,
he has also developed and teaches courses for TLC University.
Don is a graduate of Florida College and Stanford University
and has 30 years of engineering experience.
Systems Project Manager Santiago Beron, RCDD, is client-focused,
detail-oriented, and highly skilled in voice/data, audio/visual
and security system design. His work is his greatest
marketing tool - once clients team with Santiago, they
want to team with him again and again. As a C&T
employee located in Tampa, he seamlessly juggles the
projects of both divisions. He has 13 years of experience
and degrees from Pontificia Universidad Javerian in
Bogota and the Universidad ICESI in Cali, Colombia.
Dallas Sr. Project Manager John Deems draws on his 21
years of experience to mentor the younger staffers and
uses his easy-going personality to keep the bustling
office on an even keel. He has an excellent perspective
of the entire design and construction process that assures
thorough implementation of the engineered systems. John's
portfolio includes office buildings, hospitals and medical
office buildings, airports, U.S. Army Corps of Engineer
facilities, K-12 schools and postal facilities.
In the four years he's been with TLC, Ryan Fryman, PE,
LEED AP, has proved himself an excellent engineer with
terrific marketing savvy and a great rapport with clients.
He's always looking out for what's best for the Jacksonville
office and TLC as a whole. One of the University of
North Florida's first electrical engineering graduates,
Ryan is vice chair for the UNF School of Engineering
Advisory Council and was recently named Outstanding
Alumnus by the UNF College of Computing, Engineering
and Construction.
Dallas Senior Mechanical Engineer Fred Henke Jr., PE,
has a keen awareness of client expectations and is skilled
in the management, design and coordination of both the
mechanical and electrical disciplines. His 25-plus years
of engineering experience includes hospitals, institutional
buildings, corporate headquarters, even a major league
ballpark. Fred worked in engineering when he was in
still in high school and all while he earned his degree
from the University of Texas in Arlington.
In his 23 years as an electrical engineer, Dallas Managing
Director John Piazza, PE, built an extensive portfolio
of commercial, residential and institutional projects
while honing his considerable marketing and people skills.
As president of his own MEP firm for 12 years, John
is skilled in fiscal management, business planning and
development. An accomplished manager, he knows how to
inspire and motivate his staff to provide excellent
client service. John is a graduate of Pratt Institute
in Brooklyn.
