Leading the Way In LEED® Design
As an Architecture 2030 partner and an advocate of sustainable design, TLC is uniquely qualified to provide you and your construction team creative Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) project administration and support including:
- Comprehensive management of the LEED registration and certification process. Our experienced engineers guide the owner, architect and construction team through the steps to achieve certification.
- Facilitating an initial, concept-phase LEED design charrette with the design, construction and owner teams. The charrette serves as TLC’s first opportunity to confirm the owner’s green goals and set the LEED outline for the project. During the charrette, TLC guides the team through a review of the project, LEED concepts and green building design goals to determine the appropriate LEED certification level. TLC also establishes the design and construction strategies it will use to achieve certification.
- Assigning credit guardians for each LEED credit and prerequisite and developing an action item list outlining the tasks required to qualify for the desired LEED credit. Credit guardians are responsible for gathering the information required for credit documentation, including the templates and supporting documents. TLC reviews and submits the documentation, but allows the credit guardian to retain responsibility for the technical accuracy of the information.
- Conducting periodic LEED review meetings to keep the team on the project timeline and on target with its anticipated LEED points. Generally, these meetings are held in conjunction with regular team coordination meetings and include a status update from each credit guardian.
- Coaching and mentoring construction management and project engineer personnel during the gathering, cataloging and extensive documentation of local and regional materials, recycled content, construction waste diversion and low-emitting finish materials.
TLC can also facilitate your LEED certification when serving as your MEP or structural engineer. We will perform individual documentation of credits related to mechanical, electrical and structural engineering design, including indoor air quality, water conservation, measurement and verification, controllability of systems, thermal comfort design, as well as the traditional energy use optimization credits including:
- Participation in LEED design charrettes and meetings.
- Calculations associated with assigned MEP LEED credits.
- Investigation, analysis and documentation of assigned MEP LEED credits on LEED Online.
- Completion of LEED Online letter templates and uploading of supporting documentation to LEED Online for all assigned credits.
